Turn mattress turns heads!

MEDevice’s mattress systems received high praise from occupational therapists at the recent OTAC exhibition in Cardiff.

Star of the show was the AER Reva, a lateral turn system with LAL. Occupational therapists took turns to lay on the specialist mattress, which gently turns patients from right to left.

Ingrid Tozer, occupational therapist for Dorset Council said, “I was very impressed with the comfort of the AER Reva and its gentle rotation, which is effective but subtle.

“The supportive side walls of the lateral turn mattress will ease transfers onto and off the bed, especially for those with reduced core strength. This will also benefit care givers.

“I was also impressed with how adaptable the control unit is.”

Ingrid felt the mattress would be a valuable addition to community care, offering a long-term solution for patients and minimising the need to transfer them to different support surfaces as their condition changes.

Also on show was the AER Fusion hybrid mattress. Occupational therapist in Dorset Vicki Haskell commented on its quality and superior comfort: “I could feel the alternating therapy within the mattress, but it was gentle and soothing, without affecting comfort. The supportive side walls meant I felt secure with no risk of rolling. The pump is also very quiet. The AER Fusion would be suitable for a lot of our patients and would definitely aid rest and recovery.”
